westgate community school update

just over a week ago at the end of october we held a weekend walk through of the 1/4 mile walking loop which is one proposed component of our comprehensive eco campus plan for westgate charter school. we were ecstatic about the turnout of over 150 students, parents, and faculty that showed up to walk through, look at the designs, and ask any questions about the latest work we have prepared for the school. along this loop are 8 station markers that allow students to track their progress and movements on a day to day basis. these markers had been outlined for the walk with stakes allowing parents and students a visual of where the markers will lie in the final designs.

thanks to Great Outdoors Colorado we have been working with the Westgate Charter k-12 over the last 6 months designing a custom playscape that features age specific play areas, an obstacle course, an outdoor classroom, an amphitheater and a social plaza. the first phase of construction for their outdoor playscape is expected to go out to bid in early 2016. the remaining 10 acres will feature a community pavilion and green, community garden plots, an orchard, trail head connection to the Farmers Highline regional trail, and a series of sensory gardens focussed on xeric butterfly gardens. stay tuned for more updates and progress on this developing project!
