dha / south lowell

three sixty worked with the denver housing authority to redevelop their south lowell housing site. we assisted the architects in siting the buildings which influenced the form of the open spaces and circulation corridors and created unique storm water opportunities. our design serves as a tool for water and energy-efficient design to reduce long-term operational and utility costs and also creates beautiful gardens and active play spaces for residents. the challenge of a large circular roundabout to satisfy the fire requirements presented our team with a unique task. we turned an otherwise bleak, large expanse of concrete into a vibrant amenity for the children of the housing development. during the summer seasons, the roundabout is a large water fountain for play as well as a wonderful focal point.
